The Lifehouse Art Exhibition

God gave me the vision for a church art exhibition way back in May as I was sitting in the garden enjoying a sunny spring afternoon. The elements of the vision drew together the strengths and gifts which God has given in abundance to the members of The Lifehouse. These are creativity, hospitality and worship. The idea reflected our core values. The art was an opportunity for individual’s to express their experience of the love of Father God, the exhibition area a place where people could experience intimacy with God and the fact that we would be inviting friends, family and the local community meant we could reach out with God’s love to those around.
Over several months a planning team beavered away at making
the whole thing come together and I was very grateful to have a
team which involved artists, administrators and cake bakers!

The exhibition took place in October and after a few nail biting hours trying to work out how to actually hang the art work up safely and effectively the whole thing came together in an amazing way. The exhibition contained paintings, photographs, collage, crochet, poems, pottery and a 12 foot high chair! The exhibitors ranged in age from 10 – 60+ years.

The comments of those from outside the church say it all. ...
- “ Totally exciting. What a treasure store.
- “ What a lovely hidden treasure. We had a great time.”
- “ Very hospitable”
- “Really enjoyed the variety and peace in a busy Saturday morning”
-
“Coming here has really cheered me up.”
